LSU RHP Chandler Dorsey enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU right-handed pitcher Chandler Dorsey has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He did so after just one season with the Tigers. Dorsey spent his first two seasons in college at USF. He then transferred to LSU ahead of the 2025 season. But he saw minimal action.
The 6-foot-4, 231-pound prospect appeared in just five games for the Tigers this spring. He threw a total of 5.0 innings and logged four strikeouts and two walks, while also giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Dorsey was far more involved during his time at USF. In two years, he made 48 appearances on the mound. There was marked improvement from his first year to his second year.
As a freshman in 2023, Dorsey threw a total of 20.2 innings. He gave up 27 hits and 23 runs (17 earned), while striking out 30 and walking 16. He finished with a 7.40 ERA, obviously needing some work.
That improvement for Dorsey came a year later, when the talented pitcher dropped his ERA to 3.60. He threw 30.0 innings and allowed just 13 runs (12 earned) on 20 hits. He also struck out 41 and walked 16.

His departure will leave LSU without a potential arm in the bullpen. And Dorsey is not the only defection from LSU so far this transfer portal cycle.
LSU loses first baseman Ryan Costello
In addition to Dorsey, LSU first baseman Ryan Costello has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 previously learned. He’s a former Top 100 recruit, ranked as Perfect Game’s No. 92 overall player and the No. 2 first baseman in the 2024 high school class.
During the 2024-25 season, Costello played in 15 games for LSU. He amassed eight at-bats, walking four times but never swinging for a hit. He struck out four times.
