SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum joined Matt Barrie on the ESPN College Football Podcast to talk about the LSU head coaching search, and the timeline for different names involved. After many schools moved, the Tigers remain in the hunt for their new leader as Ed Orgeron sets up shop on a beach in Destin, Florida.

“Scott Woodward is on the clock right now because he needs a coach, and he needs one within 24 hours,” Finebaum said Sunday. “You can’t waste much time.”

With Lincoln Riley and Billy Napier off the board to USC and Florida, LSU is the last of the “Big Three” jobs which opened in the initial cycle. Paul Finebaum listed some of the remaining candidates, but showed little confidence in LSU’s search surrounding anyone.

“You still hear Dave Aranda’s name – even though he’s reportedly getting a new deal, who isn’t getting a new deal – and beyond that I don’t know if there’s a surprise because you don’t know if he can go back to someone who maybe we thought was off the board,” said Finebaum. “But I thought it was interesting… Mark Stoops’ name was out there as well. But – with all due respect to Mark Stoops – I don’t think that’s the whale that we all gave Scott Woodward credit for reeling in.”

There’s never a dull moment in the SEC with Lane Kiffin. Ever since he was hired by Ole Miss, he has provided plenty memorable moments, especially on Twitter.

Sunday was the latest, with Kiffin tweeting out a picture of a Louisiana license plate. No caption was added, just a picture of the car. This had led people to what this could mean, especially with the LSU head coaching job open.

Kiffin has been linked with a few jobs around the college football carousel, mainly with Florida and Miami. With the Tigers striking out on a few top candidates, looking within the SEC West could be the next option.

At the end of the day, Kiffin is most likely out recruiting for the Rebels. He has been relentless on the trail, recently going to see On3 Consensus five-star quarterback Arch Manning. The Ole Miss head coach later posted a picture of Texas license platers on a vehicle.

However, getting Twitter interactions and have fun with a rival would be too good of an opportunity to pass.
