Tyree Adams injury update: LSU starter could miss multiple games with ankle ailment per report

LSU starting left tackle Tyree Adams is could miss multiple weeks due to an ankle injury, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported. Adams suffered the injury in Saturday’s loss against Vanderbilt. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the report and added more details on the potential time missed for the Tigers’ tackle.
“LSU offensive tackle Tyree Adams is out for the Texas A&M game on Saturday, sources tell On3,” said Nakos. “With a bye following Texas A&M this week, there’s some hope he could be back by Alabama on Nov. 8. Adams has been a consistent presence for the Tigers so far this year with the challenge of protecting Garrett Nussmeier’s blindside.
Adams is a redshirt sophomore who moved into a full-time starting role this season after starting two of eight games last year. He is part of an O-line that is giving up just 1.2 sacks per game to rank 21st in the FBS.
Tyree Adams joined LSU in the 2023 season as a four-star recruit out of St. Augustine High School in Marrerro, Louisiana. He ranked as the No. 195 overall player and No. 13 offensive tackle according to the On3 | Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
LSU (5-2, 2-2 SEC) can’t afford any more losses the rest of the way if it wants to give itself a chance at the College Football Playoff. It will hope it can survive against Texas A&M when the game kicks off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET in Baton Rouge.

The loss was the second of the season for Brian Kelly and his squad. That said, both losses were to currently ranked opponents.
Still, Kanell made it clear he thinks LSU has officially been eliminated from contention. He didn’t provide much analysis, posting only his short take in four words.
“LSU,” he wrote on Twitter. “Eliminated from playoffs.”
That take will certainly draw some critiques from around the college football world, particularly in Baton Rouge. A two-loss SEC team, should LSU run the table from here, would certainly seem to be in contention.
That scenario would give LSU wins over Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, among others. That would be a pretty strong slate of wins, at least as things currently stand for those teams.
On3’s Thomas Goldkamp contributed to this report.
