Maryland expected to hire East Carolina's Latrell Scott as running backs coach

The Maryland Terrapins are expected to hire Latrell Scott as the team’s new running backs coach, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Scott is currently the passing game coordinator and tight ends coach at ECU, working for Mike Houston. That’s a role he has held since 2021, though he’s coached in college for better than two decades.
On top of his time as an assistant coach, Latrell Scott has been a head coach at the FCS level, leading both Norfolk State and Richmond. This gives him a ton of experience and connections in the DMV for recruiting purposes.

Scott has also worked as an assistant coach at Tennessee and Virginia, giving him Power 5 coaching experience. With both of those teams, he was a wide receivers coach.

As a player, Latrell Scott was a three-year starter at tight end for Hampton. He replaces Elijah Brooks, who left for Virginia Tech.
Maryland hired Josh Gattis as offensive coordinator
Running backs coach isn’t the only position going through a transition on the Maryland offense. The Terrapins are also getting a new offensive coordinator in Josh Gattis.
Gattis spent 2022 with the Miami Hurricanes and before that was with the Michigan Wolverines.
“The additions of Josh and Zac [Spavital] really bolsters our already strong coaching staff. Josh and I have a strong relationship and a proven track record of working together to produce a potent offense,” head coach Mike Locksley said in a statement.
“He and I share many of the same philosophies and it should be a very smooth transition.”
