ACC spring meetings are underway from Amelia Island. There, Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal shared some major news on quarterback Carson Beck.

“He’s good to go,” Cristobal told ESPN. “He’s exceeding every benchmark.”

Carson Beck, in his final game as a Georgia Bulldog, was injured just before halftime of the SEC Championship Game. That ended up being a UCL injury that would require surgery, and he has since been recovering to get back on the field. Now, it appears he’s good to go for Miami.

Cristobal added that Beck has been throwing for three weeks after missing all of spring practice. That’s part of his rehab. He’s still yet to throw to the Miami wide receivers in an organized practice. Cristobal also recently did share that he’ll be ready for Miami’s player-led practices.

Carson Beck was replaced by Gunner Stockton, who helped the Bulldogs to win the SEC Championship Game and played in the College Football Playoff. He’d then enter the Transfer Portal, openly landing at Miami. At the time, it was reported that Beck was going to make $4 million with the Hurricanes.

In his time with Georgia, Carson Beck was able to start for the Bulldogs from 2023-24. In 27 games over the course of those two years as a starter, he threw for 7,426 yards and 52 touchdowns. However, the 2024 season was a frustrating one at times for Beck. He dropped from a 72.4 percent completion percentage in 2023 to a completion percentage of just 64.7 percent in 2024. He also threw an SEC-high 12 interceptions.

At Miami, Carson Beck is looking to replace Cam Ward. The first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ward led Miami to a 10-3 record. It was the best season for the Hurricanes under Mario Cristobal.

Joel Klatt cautiously optimistic in Miami, Carson Beck in early rankings

Transfers can be hit or miss. For the time being, analyst Joel Klatt is cautiously optimistic that things will work out for Miami and Carson Beck.

“I’m going to be cautiously optimistic about Miami. So I’ve got Miami at 18 now. Carson Beck transfers in … I like this move now, however, Beck had that elbow surgery in December, and he didn’t even throw in spring practice, room for concern, so I like it, but I’m also concerned and it has to make you be a little bit nervous,” Klatt said.

“I know he’s played a lot of football, so you’re not worried about like, reps and experience, but reps with this group becomes a question. Because of those reps that they lost in the spring, the offense should be pretty good as far as offensive line goes, running back goes. I think wide receiver is a concern for me. For them, they lose Xavier Restrepo. (He) has been Mr. Reliable for them for years. They also lose their tight end, who I thought started to play really well late in the season, Elijah Arroyo, the pass catchers aren’t as good as they were last year, and Beck hasn’t been throwing any passes to them in the spring.”
