Former Rutgers LB Mohamed Toure has committed to Miami from the NCAA Transfer Portal. That news comes per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Toure entered the portal as one of the top available linebackers in the spring window. His recruitment included interest from top programs like Miami, Penn State, Indiana, and North Carolina. Now, after reportedly taking visits to all of those schools over the past week and a half, the Hurricanes have earned his commitment, which comes following a prediction of that by On3’s Pete Nakos earlier on Friday.

Toure, who came into this past season as a top linebacker nationally based on his preseason recognition, did not end up playing in any games. That’s with him, a team captain, having torn his ACL during practice in the fall of 2024 after having missed all of 2022 with a torn ACL as well from during the spring.

Over his four other seasons prior to that with Rutgers, with 37 games played, Toure posted 168 tackles, 22.5 being for loss, with 13.5 sacks, along with five deflections, three forced fumbles and one recovery, and a pair of interceptions. That includes a career-best year as a senior the season prior when he had 93 tackles, 10 for loss, with 4.5 sacks, plus two deflections, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Toure, a native of Pleasantville, New Jersey, was just outside the Top 1,000 recruits as a three-star in the 2019 cycle. He was also rated as a Top 150 LB in the class and a Top 25 prospect from out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

With all that, Toure was previously the top available transfer left in the portal prior to his commitment this afternoon. He is the No. 219 overall player and the No. 8 linebacker per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players.

Toure is now the latest addition to a Top 10 class in the portal per On3, with 20 commitments now to The ‘U. Eight of those have joined the program this spring with Toure along with WRs Keelan Marion (BYU) and Tony Johnson (Cincinnati), and DBs Jakobe Thomas (Tennessee) and Keionte Scott (Houston), Kamal Bonner (NC State), RB CharMar Brown (North Dakota State), and K Bert Auburn (Texas). Those are several quality commitments for the Hurricanes with some of these players, along with the other transfers from the winter, now possibly being incoming starters in Coral Gables.
