Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram take under on Miami's 9.5 win total in 2025

Urban Meyer and Mark Ingram have a hard time seeing double digit wins from Miami this upcoming college football season. The pair gave their thoughts in a recent episode of The Triple Option podcast, where they discussed the current over/under of 9.5 on the Hurricanes’ win total according to BetMGM.
Ingram has a hard time seeing Miami be able to replace all of the production it lost from last season, including quarterback Cam Ward. Even with the Hurricanes making a big splash in the transfer portal to bring in Carson Beck from Georgia, there’s too many other question marks for him to confidently predict 10 wins or more.
“Lost the leading passer, lost the leading rusher, lost the leading receiver and tackler,” the former Alabama running back explained. “Added Carson Beck. A lot of holes to fill. I don’t care how you put it, I’m going with nine wins or less. So I’ll take the under.”
Beck was far from the only big name that Miami signed through the transfer portal this offseason. The Hurricanes added six players ranked inside the top 100 according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings, which also gave them the No. 1 class in the ACC.
That indicates that Miami certainly has the talent to challenge for double digit wins and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Whether or not that plays out will depend on how well and how quickly that talent can come together and build chemistry before the start of the season.

Urban Meyer weighed in with his take, saying that he simply isn’t sure what to expect out of the ACC as a whole, let alone Miami. But looking at the number and considering the Hurricanes’ schedule, he predicted them to finish just under the total at nine wins.
“Here’s the issues I have with the ACC: I just don’t know,” the former Florida and Ohio State coach said. “There used to be arguments that that was one of the top conferences. They’ve been down. There was a day when you had Florida State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, NC State, Miami. Those were top 10 programs at one point. They’re not right now. So I just don’t know enough about that conference.
“But I think, those Vegas dudes, they’re unbelievable. I stare at that and I see 9.5. So we say Pitt’s a W. Pitt’s got a good coach, man. You’ve got North Carolina State. Those are rugged games. The Syracuse coach, he’s a fiery guy. Fran Brown. He’s a hell of a coach. So I like nine.”
We’ll have to wait and see whether that prediction comes through or if Miami can prove Meyer and Inggram wrong. The Hurricanes will start off with a major test right off the bat when they host Notre Dame at home on Aug. 31.
