Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King quarterback Dante Moore will take an unofficial visit to Michigan this weekend, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons has confirmed.

The trip will be Moore’s fifth known visit to Ann Arbor since last summer and his first since a weeknight trip in early March to watch the Wolverines’ basketball game. Michigan is one of a handful of schools heavily pursuing Moore, the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the 2023 class.

Last month, the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder took official visits to LSU and Oregon, two teams considered to very much in the thick of his recruitment. Notre Dame, meanwhile, has been perceived as the leader for quite some time.

But according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Fighting Irish have seen the gap close. The RPM gives ND a 40.0 percent chance of securing his commitment, with LSU (23.8%), Oregon (17.3%), Miami (9.8%) and Michigan (2.2%) trailing behind.

Michigan was Moore’s first scholarship offer all the way back in the eighth grade, and the Wolverines have been a consistent presence throughout his recruitment.

“I’ve seen everything I can possibly see [at Michigan],” Moore told The Wolverines’ EJ Holland last month. “I’ve been there for a game day, a spring game, practices and more. I’m just trying to get my family from Ohio on these visits. There isn’t much I need to see anymore. But I am going to get back out there. It’s only 30 minutes away.”

Moore has yet to finalize any official or unofficial visits this summer, but he did tell Holland that he plans to take all five of his official visits before making a commitment decision.

Dante Moore Scouting Summary

“Pocket passer who is one of the more accurate and efficient quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle. Skilled as a touch passer with the ability to layer throws and deliver with accuracy and nuance. Has a quick, natural release that aids in the short passing and RPO game. Shows a good arm both on video and in camp settings. Capable of hitting on deep shots off of play action. Put together a highly efficient and productive junior season in leading Martin Luther King to a state title while completing 73 percent of his passes for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns against three interceptions. Does not appear to be quite the athlete or run threat as some of the other top quarterbacks in the cycle at this time. Will need to continue improving his movement skills and foot quickness.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
