Hunter Dickinson details how Michigan closed out Wisconsin game

Hunter Dickinson gave Michigan faithful a memorable victory on Sunday, closing out an overtime victory over Wisconsin.
A buzzer-beating heave from the star big man sent the game to overtime, and Dickinson knew the game was in the Wolverines’ hands afterwards. Speaking with the media, Dickinson elaborated on how Michigan closed out the Badgers to the tune of an 87-79 victory.
“Guys really guarded in overtime,” stated Dickinson. “They had a couple baskets early on in that overtime, but guys really stepped up and got stops when we needed to. That was the story of the game, getting stops when we needed to.”
Alas, Dickinson closed the game out with 23 points, ten rebounds, two blocks and four assists over 41 minutes, leading to Michigan’s 17th win of the season. He’s been everything the Wolverines needed and more, helping them change their tune ahead of March.
Hunter Dickinson is looking to close his Michigan career out with a bang, and he’s doing so. The Wolverines take the court next tomorrow night in Illinois, where they’ll look to stay hot against the Fighting Illini.

Dug McDaniel shares Michigan’s mindset entering overtime vs. Wisconsin
After a Hunter Dickinson heave at the buzzer sent Michigan to an overtime against Wisconsin on Sunday, freshman point guard Dug McDaniel knew his teammates were locked in. After getting an unexpected chance to win the game, the Wolverines didn’t want to squander it.
And they didn’t, pulling off an improbable 87-79 win in overtime, aiding Michigan’s NCAA Tournament resume and picking up a win in the final home game of 2023. McDaniel was certain the Wolverines were ready to take advantage of the fresh chance.
“We were really fired up. Because we knew, you know, once you give us more life we were going to take advantage of it. So we were just more so fired up, and let’s take our opportunity, don’t take it for granted. Let’s win this overtime,” McDaniel said.
McDaniel scored 20 points in the win, playing 43 minutes. It’s been an impressive back half to the season for McDaniel, a true freshman who has been thrust into the full-time point guard role due to injuries. He’s been sterling in his last three games, scoring in double figures in all three — all Michigan wins — while shooting over 50% from the field.
