Michigan is vibrant. At least, that’s what head coach Jim Harbaugh believes. On Tuesday, Harbaugh discussed how he picked the unusual adjective to unify his team.

“We’ve had general managers come through. We’ve had scouts come through. One, in particular, who was in our meeting and practices said, ‘This is vibrant,'” Harbaugh recalled. “That’s my word. I can’t get that word out of my head.

“That just best describes the vibe, the mentality. It’s infectious. You can’t help picking up on that. It’s well-defined. It’s vibrant. They take that from the meeting rooms to the weight rooms to the practice fields to the stadiums. Super pleased.”

The Wolverines are certainly full of energy. Michigan has won the Big Ten Conference and reached the College Football Playoff two years in a row. Further, the program only seems to be improving.

Michigan returns star quarterback JJ McCarthy with a full year of experience under his belt. Moreover, All-American running back Blake Corum is back for the Wolverines. The 5-foot-8 senior’s season ended early last year after suffering an injury in Week 11.

Harbaugh seemingly liked what he saw from his team in Michigan’s intrasquad scrimmage.

“[This team] is the first to have a scrimmage in the stadium be as good as it was,” Harbaugh said. “It was the same vibrant energy, execution, and I commented to the team afterward that I’d never seen anything quite like that. It’s good. They’re further ahead.”

Jim Harbaugh will reportedly avoid suspension

As of now, it appears Harbaugh will get to enjoy all the rewards of his labor. In July, Harbaugh was reportedly set to be suspended for four games amid an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, according to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo, the deal is off. Wetzel calims Harbaugh will not be suspended for the opening four games of the 2023 season.

“An agreement between the NCAA and Jim Harbaugh that called for a four game suspension is off, industry sources tell Yahoo Sports,” Wetzel said via Twitter. “The case will go to Committee on Infractions, likely in 2024. Harbaugh expected to coach all Michigan games this season.”

Only time will tell how Harbaugh’s alleged violations will shake out, but for now, fans can expect a vibrant 2023 campaign. Harbaugh and his Wolverines will kick off their 2023 campaign on Sept. 2 against the East Carolina Pirates.
