Yaxel Lendeborg, No. 1 transfer portal target, commits to Michigan Wolverines

UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg is currently the top-rated player in the entire portal this cycle. Now, he’s off the board and headed north to wear maize & blue next season
Lendeborg has committed to Michigan, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. He chose the Wolverines over other reported top options like Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss among other noted programs interested in adding him like Arkansas, BYU, Georgetown, and Memphis.
However, this is for if Lendeborg later pulls his name out of consideration for the 2025 NBA Draft. He declared for the draft at the same time that he entered the portal with projections having him as a second-round selection. Now, per Givony, he will go through the draft process in intending to find a guaranteed contract. If he withdraws, though, he will spend his final collegiate season with the Wolverines.
Lendeborg spent the past two seasons with the UAB Blazers after playing the three years prior at Arizona Western as a JUCO. Over his two seasons in Birmingham where he was All-AAC First Team and AAC Defensive Player of the Year in both, Lendeborg posted 15.8 points (51.8% FG), 11 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.2 steals. That includes this past season where, as a senior, averaged 17.7 points (52.2% FG), 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.7 steals.

As for his time at a JUCO, Lendeborg put up 13.2 points (67.9% FG), 11.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.2 steals. That made him one of the best players at the level as a consecutive honoree as ACCAC Player of the Year and a two-time selection as a NJCAA All-American.
Michigan has now made some big moves with their three additions out of the portal so far during this cycle. Lendeborg will now come to Ann Arbor alongside Morez Johnson Jr. (Illinois – No. 7 PF, No. 20 overall) and Elliot Cadeau (North Carolina – No. 8 PG, No. 41 overall)
