Zak Zinter accepts Big Ten Trophy for Michigan

Following the Michigan Wolverinesā 26-0 shutout victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes, their head coach, Jim Harbaugh, orchestrated a special surprise for one of their top players who was lost for the season. Zinter receiving the trophy led to an emotional moment for the Wolverines center and his teammate, which can be seen in the video below.
Zinterās season came to a screeching halt in Michiganās Week 13 victory over rival Ohio State. In the second half of the game, the Wolverinesā star interior offensive lineman broke his left leg. Upon being carted off the field, the crowd in attendance began to chant, āLetās go, Zak,ā leading to an emotional sendoff for Zinter.
While he could not enjoy Michiganās 30-24 victory over Ohio State or be on the field with his brothers as they defeated Iowa, winning the programās third straight Big Ten title, Zinter was able to be a part of the celebration afterward and be the first person to hold the conference title trophy.

It wasnāt the biggest day offensively, but quarterbackĀ JJ McCarthyĀ did just enough to finish 22-of-30 passing for 147 yards. Running backĀ Blake CorumĀ added a pair of touchdowns.
Michigan jumped out to an early 10-0 lead with a field goal and a touchdown on its first two drives of the game. However, the Hawkeyes defense tightened up after that and did not allow the Wolverines to score the remainder of the first half.
The momentum took a big swing to start the second half after Michigan knocked the ball from Iowa quarterbackĀ Deacon Hillās hand as he attempted to throw. The play was initially called an incomplete pass, but changed to a fumble after an official review that resulted inĀ some controversy.
Regardless, it ended up being a pivotal play in the game.
Josh WallaceĀ recovered the ball at the Iowa 6-yard line, allowing Corum to run it into the end zone on the very next play. It was then the Wolverines defenseās turn to come up with another big stop, forcing a turnover on downs to get the ball back. They went on to kick a field goal on the ensuing drive to go up 20-0.
It was smooth sailing from there as the defense continued to hold strong and the offense tacked on a couple more field goals on the way to the win.
