Minnesota offers On3 top-10 EDGE Elijah Rushing

Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic four-star EDGE Elijah Rushing received an offer from Minnesota Sunday. He announced the news on Twitter.

Rushing is the No. 17 overall prospect and No. 3 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 2 player in Arizona.

On3 rates Rushing higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. He is the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 EDGE in the 2024 On300.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder holds 34 Power Five offers and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Arizona as the favorite to land a commitment from Rushing at 28.5%.

Rushing had a busy month in January despite only taking one visit to Washington. He picked up several offers and coaches from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and UCLA among others stopped by his school.

“It has been pretty busy with everything,” Rushing told Chad Simmons in a recent interview. “Me and my dad have had to find a way of how to regulate everything. From school to recruiting to the phone calls, we put a plan together to how I can read through everything, talk to coaches and when to set up visits. The coaches have been great at working with me to get the timing right with everything. I always make sure I make time to talk with them and communicate.”

Rushing also told Simmons that he will take some unofficial visits in the spring before announcing his top five schools. Among those he’ll visit include Miami,  Colorado and Ohio State

Rushing currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $128K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

“Tall, rangy pass rusher with projectable tools. Has a big frame for a rising junior, checking in at 6-foot-5.8, 224 pounds prior to his junior season. Had a good sophomore year, tallying 7.5 sacks while primarily playing defensive end in a three-man front. Shows disruptive qualities both as a pass rusher and pursuit defender. Plays with good bend, particularly for a taller prospect. Posted encouraging athletic testing marks in the combine setting. Will need to continue to add functional strength as he fills out his frame and progresses as a player.”
