Mike Leach reveals blunt reason for viral video of him folding chairs on MSU's sideline

Mike Leach hits peak Mike Leach form whenever his teams are struggling. Even with an overtime win against Auburn on Saturday, the struggles have been real for Mississippi State over the past three games. Leach finally had enough during the game, personally folding up chairs on the sideline where players would have sat.
The explanation as to why chairs were getting folded was a simple one from Leach. He was not happy with players using them instead of standing up on the sidelines. After seeing that, he decided the chairs needed to go, and nobody better than himself to do the job.

“We had a lot of chairs,” Leach said during Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference. “A few guys thought it was more important to be on the sideline than out on the field. I guess I had a difference of opinion on that. Figured we’d go ahead and get rid of the chairs.”
Leach was asked why he felt the need to do it himself instead of having somebody such as a graduate assistant perform the task. He said the chairs kept coming back so he wanted to make sure the point was clear.
“We had some workers there that kept pulling them off of there. You get to 17 to 23 years old and they think they can’t stand at a football game. I don’t happen to quite view it like that.”

The frustration from Leach stems from his wide receivers, a position group he has had problems with for some time now. We’ll find out whether or not the Mississippi State receivers get to sit on the sideline with chairs, or if they will have to stand the entire game, on Saturday.
WATCH: Mike Leach folds chairs during Auburn win
Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach has been known to have extremely high standards for his players during his extensive college football coaching career. After the Alabama game, he said he was worried his wide receivers’ kids would have T-Rex arms because they were so bad at catching the football.
This past week against the Auburn Tigers, Leach was once again displeased with the play of his wide receivers. So, he decided to fold up their chairs on the sidelines, because he felt they didn’t deserve to sit.
