Memphis DB transfer Tre Wright commits to Mississippi State
Memphis cornerback transfer Tre Wright has announced his commitment to Mississippi State. He was a three-star product out of the 2023 class.
Wright played high school football at Perry (GA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,604 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
He did not record any stats for the Tigers in his lone season in Memphis. He was also recruited by Air Force and Northern Illinois — the latter of which he was given a 100 percent prediction to commit by On3, although that did not end up being the case. Now, he’s off to the bright lights of the SEC.
Mississippi State is currently shifting the tides from the unfortunate events that led to former head coach Zach Arnett’s promotion from defensive coordinator this past season. Without Mike Leach, the Bulldogs kept the head coaching search internal, which led to a 1-7 record in the SEC this season. Arnett was promptly sacked before the end of the season and replaced by new boss Jeff Lebby who comes in highly regarded as the former offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners.
