4-star QB Michael Van Buren sets Mississippi State official visit

Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren backed off his commitment to Oregon over the weekend, and new suitors are emerging.
On Monday, Van Buren tweeted that he will take an official visit to Mississippi State this weekend, where he’ll connect with new head coach Jeff Lebby, who recruited him as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma.
Van Buren had been committed to the Ducks since May, when he chose them over Maryland and Penn State. But after more thought, he wanted to consider other options.
“I have been thinking about this for about a month or so,” Van Buren told On3’s Chad Simmons on Saturday. “Oregon is a great school, but I just have to find the right fit and the right school for me.”

Van Buren still plans to sign early, will have a short second recruitment
The No. 283 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings still plans to sign during the Early Signing Period and be an early enrollee. He will now take a step back, see what options are out there and make a decision.
“I am just looking for my next home now. I want to go where I play in an explosive offense, where I will be developed and where there is a family culture. My recruitment is 100% back open now.”
Van Buren knows he doesn’t have a lot of time, but he is not going to rush things either.
“I am just going to see what happens and make the best decision for me and my family,” he added.
Maryland is among the other contenders as well, as the home-state Terrapins would love to keep him at home.
Van Buren ranks as the nation’s No. 16 quarterback and the No. 10 recruit in Maryland.
