Mississippi State receiver Caleb Ducking was turning heads this fall camp for the Bulldogs. It didn’t take long for the playmaker some big catches in his team’s Week 1 matchup against the Memphis Tigers.

He hauled in three catches for 73 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 49-23 blowout victory over Memphis last Saturday night. One of them was a beautifully plucked 35-yard touchdown catch that perfectly hit his outstretched hands in stride. With a last name like Ducking, he decided to have some fun and do the duck dance with his teammates.

The Bulldogs feature one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football in Will Rogers. Against Memphis, he completed 38 of his 49 passing attempts for 450 yards through the air, while tossing in five touchdowns and just one interception. Coming out of high school, he flew under the radar. Rogers was ranked as the No. 41 quarterback prospect in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.

The game between Mississippi State and Memphis had a lengthy lightning delay. The matchup was delayed approximately 2 hours and 14 minutes due to lightning in the area of Starkville, Mississippi. The Bulldogs led the Tigers 7-0 with 5:32 remaining in the first quarter when play had to be stopped. Ultimately, the game was able to be resumed and they finished.

Mississippi State handled Memphis with ease, 49-23. Bulldogs’ receiver Rara Thomas also led the team in receiving yards on the night, hauling in five catches for 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
