Brady Cook injury update: Latest on Missouri QB after leaving game vs. Auburn

There’s some doubt as to whether Missouri quarterback Brady Cook will return to the game against Auburn after suffering an apparent ankle injury midway through the first quarter.
ESPN’s broadcast crew initially provided an update that he was expected to return after getting his ankle taped in the locker room.
But after more than 45 minutes, Brady Cook had still not re-emerged. ESPN sideline reporter Taylor McGregor provided another update.
“I originally told you that the expectation is that Brady Cook would return to this game, but he has never come back out onto the field since we originally showed him going into the locker room,” McGregor said. “I am now being told by the head athletic trainer here at Mizzou that he is still being evaluated and we should know more at halftime.”
ESPN interviewed Auburn coach Hugh Freeze after the first quarter, meaning the broadcast team is likely to speak to Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz at halftime, where he’d be able to provide more information on Brady Cook.
On3 will update this story at that time.

Cook appeared to suffer the injury without contact, going down before the pass rush got to him, taking a big loss in the process.
The Missouri starter then jogged off the field at about three-quarters speed, but he did so prior to a third-down snap. He pretty immediately headed to the locker room hurt.
The ESPN broadcast crew calling the game noted they were attempting to get an update in short order and did so after just one Auburn series.
“It is good news regarding Brady Cook,” ESPN’s Taylor McGregor first reported. “I’m told it is an ankle injury. He went into the locker room. They are currently taping up that ankle, but the expectation is he will return to this game.”
