Missouri starting quarterback Brady Cook is questionable for Saturday’s game against Memphis, according to ESPN insider Pete Thamel.

Cook suffered a knee sprain during the first half of Saturday’s win over Kansas State but continued to play through it. He ended up leading the Tigers to a 30-27 victory as Harrison Mevis nailed a 61-yard field goal as time expired.

“I’m so proud of my guys. Brady Cook gets hurt, comes back and plays his butt off. Puts us in this situation,” Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz told ESPN after the win.

Cook was 23 of 35 passing for 356 yards and two touchdowns, despite playing with a banged up knee.

“He’s a tough kid. We’re fortunate to have him as our quarterback,” Drinkwitz said. “I appreciate our fans. Thank you, lord.”

For the season, Brady Cook has 732 passing yards and five touchdowns, in three games. He has yet to throw an interception. Cook has also rushed for three scores.

Missouri is 3-0 on the season after beating Kansas State at the buzzer over the weekend. The Missouri Tigers will play the Memphis Tigers on Saturday in St. Louis. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

It remains to be seen if Brady Cook will be available for the game.

Eli Drinkwitz on Missouri fans booing Brady Cook: ‘That pissed me off’

While Brady Cook ultimately played well and led Missouri to a win this past Saturday, Tigers fans were unhappy when he was the first QB on the field.

Missouri fans booed Cook to start the game, which upset head coach Eli Drinkwitz.

During his postgame press conference, Drinkwitz took a moment to address the fanbase.

“I’m gonna say it — it pissed me off when we booed our starting quarterback to start the game. That pissed me off,” said Drinkwitz. “And he went out there and played his butt off for this university and this team. They need to get behind him; we need to get behind the young man. You wanna boo me? Fine. You don’t boo the starting quarterback. It’s bull crap.”

Drinkwitz didn’t stop there.

“I’ll say it again: it should never happen,” he said. “Harrison Mevis, he’s tough as nails, does everything the right way. Game on the line, he makes it. Beautiful. And that’s redemption. But that really bothered me, and I’m so glad he played so well.”

The Tigers are hopeful Cook will be healthy and play well this weekend.
