Hollywood superstar Adam Devine has made it well known through his career that he is a diehard Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan.

Devine, who has starred in the Pitch Perfect franchise, Workaholics and The Righteous Gemstones, was raised in Omaha although he was born in Waterloo, IA. The Cornhuskers claimed three National Championships in 1994, 1995 and 1997, right at the peak of Devine’s descent into adulthood.

The now very successful actor joined Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule on the latest episode of ‘House Rhules‘. During his hit, Devine told a hilarious story about former Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini. Pelini coached the program from 2008-2014 and led the Huskers to a 66-27 record.

“He scared the living bejeezus out of me,” Devine said with a laugh. “I liked (Bo) Pelini a lot. I thought he was a great coach, although he was a terrifying man. The one time I met him, I was shaking in my boots. I met him and said ‘hey man’, and he looked at me like ‘how dare you say hey man to me’. And then my dad said ‘Coach, it’s an honor’ and then bows. And I’m like ‘should I have bowed?’ I messed up man! I should have bowed!”

Following Devine’s story, Rhule spoke highly of Pelini and how much his former players seemed to like him. Rhule name dropped Nebraska legends Will Compton, Ameer Abdullah and Prince Amukamura along the way.

“Every player that I met, whether it was Will Compton, Ameer Abdullah, Prince Amukamura, love him,” Rhule said. “He was so tough and tough love and they to this day would kill for him. As a coach, deep down inside, every coach wants to be loved by his players. Even though you’ve got to be the bad guy sometimes, you want to have that level of devotion. And the fact he stood up for his guys I think is something like I can aspire to.”

Heading into Week 10 of the college football season, Nebraska sits at 6-2 overall heading into a monstrous matchup against USC this weekend. The Huskers are out for revenge, as they dropped last season’s game against the Trojans 28-20. With a win, the program would earn its seventh regular season victory for the first time since 2016.

Kick-off for this Saturday’s game in Lincoln is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET. The game ca be seen on NBC.
