Report: Nebraska preparing for QB Dylan Raiola to explore leaving Huskers after 2025 season
According to Chris Hummer of CBS Sports, there is “doubt” regarding the future of Nebraska and quarterback Dylan Raiola. Hummer says the Huskers are preparing for Raiola to look over his options this offseason. Potentially a big shakeup for the program, the Big Ten, and wherever Raiola possibly ends up.
There’s some doubt about the future of Dylan Raiola at Nebraska, sources tell @CBSSports,” Hummer said via X. “Raiola’s brother, Dayton, decommitted from the Huskers last week, and the program is bracing for Dylan to explore his future options.”
Raiola has spent the last two seasons in Lincoln, being a massive recruiting win for head coach Matt Rhule. Originally set to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs, a last-minute flip took place. Rhule found his quarterback and the present and future with the highly-rated four-star prospect.
Since then, Raiola has occupied the starting role when healthy. He has played in 22 games throughout his career, throwing for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. Nebraska has won 13 of those, six of which were during the 2025 season.
An injury means Raiola wound up missing most of the back half of the Nebraska schedule. They have turned to TJ Lateef, a true freshman out of California. Surgery was required for Raiola, with Rhule providing an update when the news was revealed.

“I don’t want to start talking like I’m the doctor,” Rhule said ahead of Nebraska’s game against UCLA. “I know what they told me. They said it could surgical, could be non-surgical. They said something like eight to twelve weeks. But, I don’t want to start getting into all that. But it is surgical. It was recommended surgery, so it’s not like a, hey, battle your way through it-type deal.”
As for the younger brother, a decommitment did come from Nebraska. To this point, no further predictions or commitments have been made. Dayton is playing his high school football at Buford (GA) as well, being a three-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Nebraska plays at home for its final regular season game of the year on Friday. A bowl game will take place as the Huskers are currently on seven wins. Beating Iowa brings the total up to eight, the program’s best performance since 2016. From there, questions will begin to circulate about what Raiola does.
