Oklahoma State tight end Jordan Owens has committed to North Carolina out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He does so after spending just a few months with the Cowboys.

Owens played at Central Arkansas in 2024 before transferring to Oklahoma State this offseason. But his stay was short-lived, and Owens entered the transfer portal again this spring.

Now he’ll link up with Bill Belichick, hoping to supplement a North Carolina roster in need of some upgrades at various spots. The Tar Heels have certainly been active in the transfer portal this cycle.

In three years at Central Arkansas, Jordan Owens slowly ramped up his production. He caught three passes for 26 yard and two touchdowns in his first year in 2022, proving to be a big-play threat near the end zone.

He’d add onto that a year later, catching seven passes for 56 yards and three scores. Finally, as a third-year player in 2024, he upped his overall contributions quite a bit, though the high touchdown rate proved a little unsustainable.

In 2024, Jordan Owens tallied a career high 19 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged more than a catch per game for the first time in his career.

Before he enrolled at Central Arkansas, Jordan Owens was rated as a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals.com. He carried a grade of 84 from 247Sports and 5.5 from Rivals.com.

North Carolina lands another Oklahoma State transfer

Jordan Owens is not the only Oklahoma State player to choose North Carolina out of the transfer portal this offseason. Cowboys linebacker Jonathan Agumadu has committed to transfer to the North Carolina Tar Heels. He has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jonathan Agumadu played his high school football at McKinney in Texas. There, he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 1,341st-ranked player overall and the 123rd-ranked linebacker in that recruiting cycle.

As a freshman in 2024, Agumadu played in four games for the Cowboys. Despite that, he did not record any stats in his appearances.

On3’s Dan Morrison also contributed to this report.
