Former South Carolina IOL Jakai Moore has signed with North Carolina from the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per reporting by On3’s Pete Nakos on Friday.

Moore had spent the past six seasons with the Gamecocks. However, rather than spending his seventh season of eligibility in Columbia, he elected to transfer and will now spend it in Chapel Hill instead.

Moore has experience across the offensive line for South Carolina. He has appeared in 44 games, 28 of those being starts, with snaps at four of the five spots on that line. He didn’t appear last fall, though, with a shoulder injury that led to a season-ending surgery in September. That said, with that medical redshirt earned, Moore will look to bring that same versatility to the Tar Heels.

A native of Nokesville, Virginia, Moore played high school football at Patriot. He was the No. 515 overall recruit there as a three-star back in the 2019 cycle. He was also rated as a Top 40 IOL and a Top 15 player out of the state of Virginia. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’d choose South Carolina in his recruitment, after interest from several top power programs nationally, back when the program was under Will Muschamp.

Now, six years after committing to the Gamecocks, Moore chose to enter the transfer portal as an offensive lineman at No. 151 at the position. That’s according to the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players.

Moore is now the latest addition in the transfer portal for North Carolina ahead of their debut season under Bill Belichick. He’s the 29th commitment in the portal to the Tar Heels over the course of this offseason in Chapel Hill. Moore is the 14th of those to have committed during the spring to UNC. That’s with several more, though, electing to transfer elsewhere amidst the coaching change to Belichick.
