Michigan State transfer CB Dillon Tatum commits to Northwestern

Former Michigan State cornerback Dillon Tatum committed to Northwestern out of the transfer portal Saturday. He made the announcement official on Twitter/X.
“Go ‘Cats,” Tatum wrote in his post. “Chicago’s Big Ten Team.”
In three seasons at Michigan State, Tatum logged 62 total tackles, three tackles for loss and eight pass deflections. However, he played just one game last season.
As a member of the Class of 2022, Tatum was a four-star recruit out of West Bloomfield (Mich.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 9 overall prospect in the state, the No. 9 athlete in the class and the No. 306 overall prospect in the class.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Wright was a three-star recruit out of Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 66 overall prospect in the state, the No. 39 quarterback in the class and the No. 574 overall prospect in the class.
He transferred to Northwestern hoping for sustained success, but it was a rocky road for Wright in the Big Ten. It remains to be seen what’s next. Prior to the Wildcats, Wright started 14 games under center, accumulating 2,520 yards, 24 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 55.5% completion percentage. Wright also had 1,229 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
With Northwestern, Wright completed 38-of-66 attempts for 354 yards, zero touchdowns and one interceptions. He rushed the football 18 times for 84 yards and a touchdown though. He’ll be looking to improve upon those numbers wherever he ends up in 2025.
