Northwestern QB Mike Wright plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Northwestern quarterback Mike Wright plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. The Wildcats signal-caller previously played for Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
As a member of the Class of 2020, Wright was a three-star recruit out of Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 66 overall prospect in the state, the No. 39 quarterback in the class and the No. 574 overall prospect in the class.
He transferred to Northwestern hoping for sustained success, but it was a rocky road for Wright in the Big Ten. It remains to be seen what’s next. Prior to the Wildcats, Wright started 14 games under center, accumulating 2,520 yards, 24 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 55.5% completion percentage. Wright also had 1,229 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
With Northwestern, Wright completed 38-of-66 attempts for 354 yards, zero touchdowns and one interceptions. He rushed the football 18 times for 84 yards and a touchdown though. He’ll be looking to improve upon those numbers wherever he ends up in 2025.

Stone entered the portal the day after it opened in the winter at the end his fourth season with the Mustangs. However, he remained with SMU until the end of the season with them having made the College Football Playoff. The Mustangs lost to Penn State, 38-10.
Continuing, Stone recently completed his redshirt junior season in Dallas. While there, he appeared in 28 games with just over a dozen starts. However, Stone, who was SMU’s QB1 for all of last fall, lost that starting job to start off this season to Kevin Jennings.
In that college career, Stone is 267-450 (59.3%) for 4,030 yards, 35 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Most of that came as a full-time starter in 2023 with 3,197 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six picks on 59.9% completion while also rushing for four more scores. That led an offense that finished eighth in scoring that year at 38.7 ppg. and a team that went 11-1 as winners of the AAC Championship.
Stone, a Dallas native, played high school football at Parish Episcopal School. He was the No. 123 overall recruit as a four-star prospect in the 2021 cycle. He also rated as the No. 14 QB and the No. 20 player out of Texas in that class. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
