WATCH: Mike Brey follows through on promise, arrives at Linebacker Lounge after final Notre Dame home game

If nothing else, Mike Brey is a man who follows through on his promises. The Notre Dame head coach told reporters he planned to go to Linebacker Lounge — a bar located across from campus — after his final home game as head coach, and he did just that.
Brey and Fighting Irish athletic director Jack Swarbrick both arrived at the bar following Notre Dame’s 88-81 victory over Pitt at Purcell Pavilion Wednesday night, On3 and Blue and Gold’s Tyler Horka reported. Prior to the game, Brey promised to head to Linebacker for the first time and declared there would be “no curfew” as he celebrated with fans and students.
He even got some Irish whiskey as he took a shot of Jameson.
“You guys are awesome,” Brey told one group of students. “We’ve had some great student crowds. You guys are awesome, man.”
In the days leading up to the matchup with Pitt, which marked Brey’s final game on the sidelines at Purcell after 23 years at Notre Dame, he made a promise to celebrate at the ‘Backer. If you thought he was only going to stay for a quick drink, think again.

“We’re closing that sucker,” Brey said, via On3 and Blue and Gold’s Patrick Engel. “There ain’t no curfew tomorrow.”
It hasn’t been the easiest road for Notre Dame this year, but the Fighting Irish were able to send Brey off in style. Cormac Ryan and Marcus Hammond both had 20 points to lead the offense as Notre Dame handed ACC-leading Pitt its fifth conference loss of the year. The Fighting Irish shot 49.1% from the floor, went 10-for-27 from three-point territory and 26-for-31 from the free throw line en route to the victory.
Now, Notre Dame will close out the season Saturday against Clemson in Brey’s final game as Fighting Irish head coach.
