Jeremiah Smith reacts to his brother, Angelo, committing to Ohio State

On Sunday, Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith‘s younger brother, Angelo, committed to the Buckeyes. Angelo Smith is a junior at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Fla.
While Angelo Smith is only 5-foot-8, 180 pounds currently, scouts have high hopes for him because of his brother’s success. On Wednesday, Jeremiah Smith opened up about his brother’s commitment.
“Very proud of him, can’t really speak too much on that yet, but I’m very proud of him being a Buckeye,” Jeremiah Smith said. “He just called me out of the blue and said he was going to do it. I was hype for him. I was like, ‘OK, let’s do it.'”
Angelo Smith also had offers from Miami, Georgia State, Toledo, Akron and Oklahoma State. His recruitment began to pick up steam this summer after a strong performance at camp as a defensive back.
Angelo Smith is a three-star prospect and the No. 534 overall player in the 2027 recruiting cycle, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He is the third player from the Class of 2027 to commit to Ohio State. If the Buckeyes are lucky, Angelo Smith will be able to replicate a fraction of the success his older brother has enjoyed.
Jeremiah Smith burst onto the national radar as a freshman last season. In his debut campaign, Jeremiah Smith broke the FBS freshman receiving record, tallying 1,315 receiving yards. In total, he hauled in 76 catches for 15 touchdowns. He also notched one rushing score.

Jeremiah Smith didn’t disappear under the bright lights, either. In Ohio State’s win over Notre Dame in the national championship, Jeremiah Smith racked up five catches for 88 yards and a TD. For his efforts, Smith was named the Big Ten Receiver of the Year and a First-Team All-American.
Jeremiah Smith hasn’t lost a step this season. He boasts 20 catches for 315 yards and three touchdowns this fall. He also has a 17-yard rushing score. Jeremiah Smith’s 105 receiving yards per game are the 11th most in the country. College football experts would expect nothing less from the phenom.
“Smith is ridiculous. I think Jeremiah Smith — I mean, this is probably too much hype — Jeremiah Smith, if he just keeps working hard and developing, I think he has a chance to be a top five receiver in the history of football,” FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt said in August.
On Saturday, Jeremiah Smith will look to add to his résumé when Ohio State squares off against Washington at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on CBS.
