The Ohio State Buckeyes survived a tough battle in their Week 1 matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 21-10. This week, the Buckeyes will turn their attention to the Arkansas State Red Wolves. The Red Wolves feature former Florida State signal-caller James Blackman. The quarterback was nicknamed the “Slim Reaper” during his time with the ‘Noles due to his slender frame. He threw for over 5,000 passing yards during his time there as a multi-year starter, before deciding to hit the transfer portal in January of 2021 after losing the starting job to Jordan Travis. Last week, the Red Wolves throttled Grambling and rolled up over 500 yards of total offense en route to a 58-3 blowout victory.

To get fans fired up for their Week 2 matchup, the Ohio State video team once again dropped another epic hype video and showed why they are one of the nation’s best at what they do.

The Buckeyes had some new faces step up in a very tight game with the Fighting Irish on Saturday night. OSU receiver Xavier Johnson hauled in two catches for 34 receiving yards and a touchdown. The touchdown he reeled in late in the third quarter ended up being the game-winner. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud recently shared his thoughts on his relationship with the Buckeyes’ new wideout.

“Xavier Johnson is a dog,” Stroud said. “First of all, he’s a man of God. He’s one of the people who keep me in honest in my faith with Christ. That just shows you how hard of a worker he is. One of the first people to take me under his wing when I first got to school. He’s always been a hard worker. He’s kind of crazy in the weight room and he works really, really hard. You would think that man is an animal. But he’s a hell of a ballplayer.”

Ohio State and Arkansas State kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 12:00 PM EST.
