Former Louisville DL Jermayne Lole commits to Oklahoma

Former Louisville defensive lineman Jermayne Lole committed to Oklahoma, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Since he was an ACC transfer, he was free to transfer to SEC schools. Lole has appeared in 40 career games with Arizona State and Cardinals, tallying 141 total tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
Lole was a preseason All-Pac-12 selection before the 2021 season. His best year in an Arizona State uniform came in 2019 when he had 71 tackles and 6.5 sacks as a sophomore.
As a member of the Class of 2018, Lole was a three-star recruit out of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 81 overall prospect in the state, the No. 82 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 814 overall prospect in the class.
Jermayne Lole adds to Brent Venables’ defense
Head coach Brent Venables raved about his defense in the spring already. Basically, it’s up to SEC standards and can continue to get better.

“At spots it is,” Venables said, referring to near perfect areas of the defense. “Overall, when you have another year in the system, I just look at all the systems, I think it’s important. And starting with, just, again, the excitement that you need to have, the passion that you need to have, the focused intensity that you need to have, whether you’re in the second period, it’s a team meeting, when you come to this practice field.
“I love the leadership on our defense, the returning players. They’ve got several guys that have a mindset like ‘Coach me like a freshman, Coach.’ And I love that. You know? Sign me up for that.”
Lole is just the latest addition to that defense, bringing in a lot of experience. As the Sooners continue to rise, the team knows it can rely on Lole to play a big part within the front seven.
