Oklahoma 5-star commit David Stone takes to Twitter to troll rival Texas fans

There is no love lost between the Oklahoma and Texas football programs in the Red River Rivalry. And that extends to commits for the schools as well.
Two weeks before the teams are set to face off in Dallas, sparks are already flying. On Friday, Oklahoma 5-star defensive line commit David Stone responded to Texas fans trash talking him on Twitter with the below tweet.
Stone then followed that up by changing his profile picture to one of him holding a Longhorns hat while doing the âHorns Downâ hand gesture at a previous recruiting event.
This wasnât the first time that Stone, who committed to the Sooners in August, had gone after the Longhorns on social media. In July, he tweeted a âHorns Downâ emoji and then added onto it asking, âCan we all agree?â
Stone was not heavily recruited by the Longhorns out of Del City (Okla.) High prior to transferring to Floridaâs IMG Academy, and Texas was never considered a contender in his recruitment.
Stone is a big part of the Sooners top-10 recruiting class
The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder is the No. 7 overall recruit in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Florida.
Stoneâs commitment helped push the Sooners up into the top 10 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings this fall, where sit at No. 8 after a slew of other recent commitments.

âBeing from Oklahoma, going there gives me a chance to stay home and give back,â he told On3âs Chad Simmons when he committed. âIt has been a dream of mine since I was little to give back and this gives me that chance. It goes deep with Oklahoma.
⌠OU is 30 minutes from home, I have a sister there and the relationships are deep between them and my family. I feel very comfortable around the coaches at Oklahoma, and that played a big role in my decision, too.â
The Longhorns, meanwhile, sit at No. 16 in the current rankings. But they are trending for five-stars Kobe Black, Brandon Baker and Ryan Wingo, and they are also in the mix to flip On3 five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis from Texas A&M.
The two programs will go head-to-head on the field in Dallas in just less than two weeks, a year after the Longhorns obliterated the Sooners 49-0. This matchup â at least on paper â is a much closer one, with Texas currently ranking No. 3 in the latest Associated Press polls and the Sooners checking in at No. 16.
