Utah State transfer defensive tackle Ricky Lolohea committed to Oklahoma, he announced via social media. He began his career at Oklahoma State before spending last season with the Aggies.

Lolohea appeared in eight games for Utah State in 2024 after taking a redshirt year at Oklahoma State. He had 10 tackles during that time, including a tackle for loss.

Lolohea played high school football at Euless (TX) Trinity, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,248 overall player and No. 128-ranked defensive tackle from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

Ricky Lolohea is the 18th portal commitment for Brent Venables and Oklahoma, who have been active in the transfer portal this cycle. The biggest addition came at quarterback as former Washington State standout John Mateer announced his commitment to re-join offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle in Norman. Mateer is the No. 3-ranked transfer this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

However, Oklahoma’s biggest transfer move came when one of its top young players – also on the defensive line – stayed home. After surprisingly entering the portal April 18, David Stone withdrew two days later.

Stone appeared in all 13 games for OU a season ago. In that time, he totaled six tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack as a true freshman. He was the headliner of Oklahoma’s 2024 recruiting class, coming in as the only five-star of the group.

Had he remained in the transfer portal, he would have been unable to transfer to an SEC school without sitting out a year. Ultimately, Stone chose to return to Norman, meaning Venables and Co. kept a key piece in place.

Stone is an Oklahoma City native, but played high school football at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, where he was a Five Star Plus+ recruit – meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. He was the No. 9 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

The spring transfer portal window officially opened April 16, marking the second such window of the offseason. Players will be allowed to officially enter the portal until it closes April 25.
