Texas right-handed pitcher Drew Rerick commits to Oklahoma out of NCAA transfer portal

Texas right-handed pitcher Drew Rerick has committed to Oklahoma via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He announced the move on X/Twitter (@drewrerick) Thursday afternoon.
The Fargo, ND, native appeared in seven games (two starts) for Texas this season. He pitched to a 9.00 ERA with seven strikeouts and 11 walks in seven innings pitched. He now switches to the opposite dugout in the Red River Rivalry.
Rerick becomes Oklahoma‘s sixth addition out of the Transfer Portal, joining Nebraska second baseman Cayden Brumbaugh, Wichita State third baseman Camden Johnson, Maryland right-hander Joey McMannis, UNLV right-hander LJ Mercurius and Mississippi State outfielder Nolan Stevens. He is the Sooners’ third right-handed pitcher addition.

In its first season of SEC play in 2025, Oklahoma compiled a 38-22 (14-16) record and secured a No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional. It marked its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Sooners took North Carolina to the final game of the Regional Final, but fell to the Tar Heels 14-4.

Oklahoma had five players selected to the Chapel Hill All-Regional Team, including outfielder Sam Christiansen, catcher Easton Carmichael, outfielder Trey Gambill, outfielder Dasan Harris and right-handed pitcher Malachi Witherspoon.
Head coach Skip Johnson just wrapped up his eighth season in Norman, where he’s led the Sooners to a 267-175 (99-81) record. He boasts one career Men’s College World Series appearance, which came in 2022 when he lost in the Final to Ole Miss.
As a program, Oklahoma boasts two career National Championships (1951 & 1994) and has reached the Men’s College World Series on 11 different occasions. The Sooners boast 2,770 program victories over the span of 119 seasons, good for the 19th-best mark in college baseball history.
