According to Matt Zenitz of On3, Ole Miss defensive lineman Sincere David has entered the transfer portal. David has not played this season being out with an injury.

Being an original member of the 2017 recruiting class, David will play in his sixth season of college football next year. Wherever he ends up transferring to, they will be acquiring one of the oldest players remaining in the sport.

David has played in 18 games and started in one during the 2020 season. He has recorded 12 tackles over his five years in Oxford and 0.5 tackles for a loss. Injuries have been a huge story to David’s career.

A three-star on the On3 Consensus coming out of high school, Louisville, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Lousiville were the only other Power Five programs to extend an offer to David.

David is second Ole Miss defensive lineman to enter portal

David is not the only Ole Miss defensive lineman to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.  Quentin Bivens did the same according to Zenitz. During his four seasons in Oxford, Bivens played in 29 games for the Rebels.

Coming out of high school, Bivens was a three-star player on the On3 Consensus and a top 25 player coming out of the state of Mississippi. Southern Miss was the only other school to offer the defensive tackle as he shut down his recruitment early on. LSU showed interest later on but never fully extended an offer.

Bivens appeared in seven games this season, making 10 tackles. Only four came on the solo end, with his best performance of the season coming against Louisville in the season opener. The soon-to-be-former Ole Miss player recorded three tackles.

As Ole Miss is getting ready for the Sugar Bowl, the Rebels have to start getting ready to find a new offensive coordinator. Based on Lane Kiffin’s comments this week, it sounds like he’s not rushing that process.

Jeff Lebby is leaving Ole Miss after the Sugar Bowl to become the offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Oklahoma. It sounds like Kiffin and Ole Miss aren’t looking for his replacement just yet.

“We’ve been busy recruiting,” Kiffin said Monday. “We want to make the right hire. So I really don’t have any information on that except for those are big shoes to fill. [Lebby has] done a great job.”

Lebby was hired to join Brent Venables last week at Oklahoma. He’s a huge reason why Ole Miss had the top offense in the SEC, averaging 506.7 total yards per game.
