Former Rebels TE Caden Prieskorn 'can't respect' Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss' 11-1 playoff team
The departure of Lane Kiffin is college football’s hot-button topic at the moment. Plenty of people have thoughts of Kiffin leaving Ole Miss in favor of LSU, which became official on Monday. Former players are not different, mainly Caden Prieskorn.
A tight end in Oxford under Kiffin, Prieskorn has not shied away from his displeasure with the process. So, when a fan on social media asked, “Why does Caden Prieskorn hate Lane Kiffin so much?” he responded. “Hate” might not be the right term, according to Prieskorn.
Tuesday night gives us an unofficial, official answer on whether or not Ole Miss will get into the College Football Playoff. But at 11-1, with the lone lone being in Athens against Georgia, the safe assumption is that the Rebels will be in the 12-team field. Even without Kiffin on the sidelines, leaving out a one-loss SEC team seems unfathomable.
If you were to ask Kiffin, he tried to coach Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff run. But athletic director Keith Carter went against the idea, instead naming Pete Golding the head coach. Golding now takes over the program as they enter a historic period.
“After a lot of prayer and time spent with family, I made the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU,” Kiffin said in a statement. “I was hoping to complete a historic six season run with this year’s team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team’s incredible success and their commitment to finish strong, and investing everything into a playoff run with guardrails in place to protect the program in any areas of concern.

“My request to do so was denied by Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance. Unfortunately, that means Friday’s Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels.”
As for Prieskorn, his final two years of eligibility, 2023 and 2024, were spent at Ole Miss. In 23 games played, he caught 57 passes for 850 yards and seven touchdowns. The Rebels fell short of making the CFP last season, meaning Prieskorn never got to experience what this year’s squad will.
Selection Sunday is when everything becomes official. Ole Miss finds out whether or not they will host a game at Vaught Hemingway Stadium, a possibility Kiffin called the biggest sporting event in the state’s history.
