Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart left the Rebels’ game against Georgia late in the third quarter after appearing to take a significant hit to his head and neck area. Dart was scrambling down the right side when, as he was getting wrapped up, Georgia defensive tackle Zion Logue came in from the opposite side.

Logue’s shoulder caught Dart around the head and the quarterback went down and stayed down on the Sanford Stadium turf. After staying down for an extended period right in front of the Ole Miss sideline, Dart got up and slowly walked to the injury tent.

Shortly after leaving the field and heading for the tent, Dart went to the locker room, according to sideline reporter Holly Rowe. He was apparently holding his left collarbone area as he entered the tent, Rowe said.

“He’s come out from there and now he’s being taken to the Ole Miss locker room. He does look a little bit dejected. He’s walking, it looks like he’s not in a ton of pain. But definitely he is a dejected young man as he leaves the field,” Rowe said.

In place of Dart, Ole Miss inserted Oklahoma State transfer quarterback Spencer Sanders into the game. His first play, on third down, didn’t convert and the Rebels punted shortly after.

Dart didn’t return and Georgia rolled to a win

After the victory, quarterback Carson Beck lauded the offensive line for keying in the victory.

The Bulldogs were balanced, rushing for 300 yards while Beck and backup Brock Vandagriff combined to throw for 311. And it was a consistent onslaught, with Georgia scoring double-digit points each quarter.

“Also, I didn’t get touched all day. I’m just a little dirty because I slid a few times. I gotta avoid the hits. But they had a great game, I think we had 600 total yards of offense. We run behind them. If they’re going, we’re going. So, super proud of them,” Beck said to sideline reporter Holly Rowe.

The offense also got healthier, with tackle Amarius Mims returning to the line. As did star tight end Brock Bowers.

Bowers had three catches for 34 yards, including a touchdown. He played a healthy share of offensive snaps and looked sharp in his return from ankle surgery less than a month ago.

“We all know the player that he is. And he comes the same time every single game. He’s going to be the same exact guy. Hard worker, grind it out, make plays,” Beck said.
