SEC Football: Any Given Saturday has produced plenty of excitement after Netflix released the docuseries. Teams from around the conference are featured, giving fans insight into behind-the-scenes on certain programs during the 2024 season. However, a few do not feature, including the Ole Miss Rebels.

Head coach Lane Kiffin was asked about opting out, saying it’s never been something he has been interested in. Kiffin says cameras can change how people act. Whether it’s him, his coaches, or players, having a documentary crew in there is too big of a distraction, in Kiffin’s opinion.

“To each their own,” Kiffin said. “I’ve just never been a fan of those things when they come in. Over years of watching them, it’s really hard for coaches to not be really phony with that when there’s a camera in front of you and you know it’s going to be on air. I think we’re unique in how we are and that’s a big part of what we tell the guys. ‘What you see is what you get here.’ In recruiting, we don’t recruit one way and then coach a different way.

“I just never want the cameras in there and all of a sudden, this position coach says ‘Here’s my shot for every AD to see me, what a great coach I am’ and they start talking different than what they normally do. I’ve just always been against it. Makes a little money and fills people’s ego to be on TV. From a team perspective, I don’t think it’s good. But that’s just me.”

You have to imagine if there ever was an Ole Miss season to film, it would have been 2024. Kiffin brought together one of the best rosters in college football. Between some nice recruiting wins and putting in work via the NCAA transfer portal, the Rebels garnered a ton of hype.

While there was no College Football Playoff bid, getting insight on what took place following the Georgia game would have provided good television. Maybe even on the flip, seeing the team’s mentality after losing a tough game early in the year to Kentucky.

Unfortunately, we will never get any footage. Not from the past, the present, or future. Kiffin does not want any kind of cameras in his locker room. Ole Miss fans will have to settle for watching other SEC teams in the docuseries, out now on Netflix.
