Lane Kiffin hilariously corrects reporter on postgame hug after Florida win: 'That's how rumors get started'

Recent times have seen Lane Kiffin open up a little more on his personal side, especially with his kids moving to Oxford. Another opportunity popped up during Saturday’s postgame press conference after Ole Miss took down Florida. A reporter mentioned Kiffin being surrounded by family on Saturday, even hugging his ex-wife, Layla.
But turns out, it was not Layla on the receiving end of the hug. The wife of Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter was the one to embrace Kiffin, turning into a funny moment inside the room. Kiffin set the record straight as laughter rained down.
“Only problem with your Layla story — that was Keith’s wife that I hugged,” Kiffin said. “Not Leya. I guess all blondes look alike. But other than that, it was a cool story… That’s how rumors get started, by the way.”
Kiffin then spoke a little bit about what’s going on in his life, both on and off the field. There is an appreciation for the moment he is currently in, especially when it comes to his son, Knox. Playing quarterback at Oxford High School, Kiffin is enjoying watching him play while also coaching Ole Miss.
“Just seeing Knox play last night, like the whole good ole days that I tell our players,” Kiffin began. “I’m in them right now for my life. I just don’t think people realize when they’re in them and then they get older and they say ‘Remember that? It was so great back then.’ I’m just fortunate to be in them.”

There will be another cool moment to take in around Thanksgiving. Ole Miss heads to Starkville for the Egg Bowl on Black Friday, quickly followed by Knox playing in a state semifinal later that night. Oxford needs to beat Horn Lake this upcoming Friday to get there. But if the Chargers can pull it off, Kiffin is already looking forward to a day full of football.
All of this does come with major speculation about his future. Kiffin is heavily linked to the Florida job, a team he beat Saturday night. LSU appears to be in the running for him as well, wanting to poach one of the program’s biggest rivals’ head coach.
No matter what takes place in the coming days, weeks, or years, Kiffin is soaking every moment in. He just does not want any kind of rumors spreading after hugging Carter’s wife on the field postgame.
