Lane Kiffin jokingly jabs ESPN sideline reporter Molly McGrath over injury, weather question

In what is arguably the biggest home game in Ole Miss history, conditions are not ideal in Oxford. Rain has been in the area since Friday night and has continued into kickoff. To make things harder for the Rebels and head coach Lane Kiffin, two key offensive players — running back Henry Parish and wide receiver Tre Harris — are not playing against Georgia.
ESPN’s sideline reporter Molly McGrath asked Kiffin about dealing with not just the weather but the two stars as well. He jokingly told McGrath that the team was lucky she did not give the pregame pep talk.
“Well, I’m glad you didn’t talk to the team,” Kiffin joked. “You’re not very positive. So, those are two great players, the running back and the best receiver in the country. But hey, next man up. Let’s go play very well.”
Kiffin knows the importance of this game for Ole Miss, hoping to get the season back energized. It was the Georgia matchup last season that caused the aggressive offseason approach in the NCAA transfer portal. Ole Miss went after multiple pieces they believed worthy of competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Guys like Harris and Parish are certainly a part of the equation. Kiffin called Harris the “best receiver in the country” while Parish is the team’s leading rusher. Having those two on the sidelines would be tough against any opponent, let alone the No. 3 team in the country.
Even so, based on his quote to Molly, Kiffin is feeling pretty good just ahead of kickoff. At the very least, he is confident in what Ole Miss has going out there. The time to perform on college football’s biggest stage is here for Kiffin but he is still true to himself and found time to sneak in a joke.
