Lane Kiffin praises Ole Miss fans for not rushing the field after LSU win

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is thankful that fans didn’t rush the field following his team’s 24-19 victory against No. 4 LSU on Saturday. Not only because the Rebels will avoid a fine from the SEC, but also because it shows where the program’s standard is.
“Hope our fans had a good day. Appreciate them not rushing the field,” Kiffin said. “…To me, that’s really cool that you get to a place at a program where you do beat the No. (4) team in the country and you don’t rush the field. We did what we’re supposed to do and that’s win the game. That makes me happy that this program’s got to that place.”
No one would have blamed Rebels fans if they did decide to celebrate Saturday’s victory by storming the field. If any game would have fit the criteria for it, it would have been this one against a top 5 opponent.
However, their decision not to shows that they had faith they were the better team and would win. Their team certainly backed up that belief with its performance.
The Ole Miss defense was stifling, holding LSU to just 57 yards rushing and 2.6 yards per carry. The Rebels also got after the quarterback with one sack and eight QB hurries.
Offensively, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss got the starting nod for the third straight week and finished with 314 yards passing and a touchdown with one interception. He also added 71 yards rushing.
With the win, Ole Miss improved to 5-0 (3-0 SEC) and has announced itself as a contender in the race for the SEC title. But based on the reaction from its fans Saturday, those were the expectations all along and the results were no surprise.

Lane Kiffin trolls Whit Weeks using callback to joke about his daughter, Landry, after win over LSU
As news of his daughter dating Whit Weeks made rounds on social media, Lane Kiffin took to X and made a proclamation. “Take the over,” he said on Monday. Well, after Ole Miss took down LSU on Saturday afternoon, Kiffin now wants to talk with Weeks
“I’m looking for Whit right now to see if we covered the over,” Kiffin said postgame with ESPN’s Molly McGrath.
Unfortunately, Kiffin did not get his wish. Ole Miss beat LSU 24-19, bringing the game’s total to 43 points. Not close to the number BetMGM offered leading into the game. However, you have to imagine Kiffin is still happy with his offense’s performance throughout.
Next up, Ole Miss has a bye to recover coming off of the big victory. The Rebels next have a date with Washington State in a 12:45 p.m. kickoff on Oct. 11.
