Lane Kiffin refuses to answers questions regarding future at Ole Miss, keeps focus on Egg Bowl
Lane Kiffin refused to answer any questions about his future at Ole Miss during his presser on Monday. The Rebels take on Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl Friday and there’s expected to be an announcement regarding the coach’s future with the program.
“Very fair question, but we’re not answering if it doesn’t have to do with the game, the team and the season,” Kiffin said. The head coach was asked a follow up about how important it would be to finish out with this Ole Miss team.
“Very important,” Kiffin said. “I’ve never thought of anything different than that.”
But Kiffin kept getting grilled about his future. He once again said he would not answer any questions regarding his future past the Egg Bowl.
“You can keep going,” Kiffin said. “I’m not going to answer them. That’s three of them.”
Ole Miss AD Keith Carter previously released a statement regarding Kiffin. It looks like the waiting game will continue.
“Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce. While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important — our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion,” Carter’s statement reads. “Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead.”

Last week during the final SEC Coaches Teleconference of the season Kiffin was peppered with questions from national reporters about the future decision of where he will be next year. Those questions included asking if he thought he’d be the coach on the sideline next week in Starkville.
“You know something I don’t know?,” Kiffin said. “Do I expect to coach next week? Why would I not expect to coach next week? I mean, I expected to coach against Florida, too. So I don’t even understand the question ‘How would I expect to coach next week.?’ Why would I be at work?
“I mean, we’re game planning. We’re just at practice. I don’t even understand how that would happen.”
