Lane Kiffin teamed up for a celebration with Deuce Alexander after the Ole Miss receiver scored a touchdown Saturday against Tulane. Alexander caught a 33-yard touchdown late in the contest against the Green Wave and prepared himself for a dunk on the goal as per tradition.

However, Kiffin stepped in to offer his assistance and grabbed the ball. The Rebels coach then bounced it hard on the ground, setting Alexander up for the jam. You can view the moment below.

Alexander finished the game with four catches for 94 yards and the touchdown, which was also his first of the season. He tweeted afterward that he had some extra motivation helping him toward the big performance.

ā€œFor my granddaddy heavenly birthday,ā€ he wrote.

Alexander is in his first season with the Rebels after transferring from Wake Forest. He finished last season for the Demon Deacons with 36 catches for 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

So far this year, Alexander ranks second on the team in receiving with 14 catches for 249 yards and one TD. He’ll aim to continue being an impact player in the passing game after his big performance early on.

Coming out of high school atĀ Douglas CountyĀ in Georgia, Alexander was a three-star recruit in theĀ Class of 2023. He was the 883rd-ranked player overall and the 129th-ranked wide receiver in that recruiting cycle.Ā Ole Miss listsĀ him at six feet tall and 180 pounds.

So far he’s proved himself worthy of those rankings. Kiffin spoke on what he thought the receiver could bring after watching him in fall camp, and it appears he was right.

ā€œYeah, Deuce has had a great camp,ā€ KiffinĀ said. ā€œHe’s looked electric, dynamic. [From] what we’d seen on film, they didn’t throw him a ball very much, but we could see on film a guy that, if we had him, how much we’d want to give him the ball.ā€

It was a big day for the Ole Miss offense as a whole, which totaled 548 yards in the dominant 45-10 win. The Rebels were also sound defensively and did not allow a touchdown until the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss is now off to a 4-0 (1-0 SEC) start to the season after the win against Tulane on Saturday. The Rebels move on to a huge matchup against No. 3 LSU next week.
