Ole Miss catcher Campbell Smithwick has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He does so after spending two seasons with the Rebels.

Smithwick was a part-time starter for Ole Miss this season, appearing in 40 games and starting 27 of them. He was a productive hitter.

In 110 at-bats, Campbell Smithwick put together a .282 average at the plate. He hit five doubles and five home runs, driving in 23 RBI. He also drew 24 free passes — 17 via walk and seven via hit by pitch.

In addition to his ability at the plate as a hitter, Smithwick has also proven a very capable defensive catcher. He’s made only three errors in two years in his 50 starts and 67 total appearances behind the dish.

Smithwick boasted a .994 fielding percentage as a sophomore in 2025. That came a year after he posted a .988 fielding percentage as a freshman.

During his freshman season, Campbell Smithwick went .253 at the plate. He hit four doubles and a home run, while knocking in 11 RBI. He also drew 24 free bases — 20 walks and four hit by pitch.

Ole Miss baseball targeting players in the portal

With players like Campbell Smithwick on their way out of the program, Ole Miss is looking to shore up its ranks with some additions via the NCAA transfer portal. On3’s Pete Nakos has more.

Ole Miss baseball took a step forward in 2025, making its return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. The Rebels fell in the NCAA Regional final in Oxford to Murray State, which is now one of eight teams in the College World Series.

In Mike Bianco’s 25th season at Ole Miss, the Rebels hosted their first regional since 2011 and finished with a 43-21 overall record, advancing to the SEC Tournament championship game before falling to Vanderbilt. Now, Bianco and Ole Miss will reload for the head coach’s 26th season.

Ole Miss needs impact bats, but its primary portal need will be on transfer pitchers. Here are the top names Ole Miss is interested in, per Nakos.
