Paul Finebaum: Beating Lane Kiffin in Oxford has become nearly impossible

Lane Kiffin is nearly impossible to beat when Ole Miss plays at home, according to ESPN’s Paul Finebaum. That proved to be the case again Saturday as the Rebels beat LSU 24-19 to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Kiffin is 31-3 at home as head coach of Ole Miss since the 2021 season, his second year with the program. He was 3-3 during the shortened 2020 COVID season.
Either way, the state proves true, it’s so hard to beat Kiffin and Ole Miss in Oxford. The Rebels have four more home games, so that could bode well for the rest of the schedule!
“Of course, you’ll think back to the Ole Miss narrative. Austin Simmons was going to be such a great quarterback, and Chambliss has come in and just turned people upside down,” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show. “But listen, Lane Kiffin never disappoints. This was a big week for him with the E:60 and he delivered. Beating Lane Kiffin in Oxford has become nearly impossible … They’re in great shape.”
Finebaum referred to that “great shape,” as in Ole Miss’ schedule is favorable with the way they’re playing right now. Next up is Washington State on the road on October 11th, so they get a bit of a break before a west coast trip.
Kiffin and Ole Miss also have to go to Georgia and Oklahoma, but will host South Carolina, The Citadel and Florida for three straight weeks after that. They end at Mississippi State, but it is manageable as Finebaum pointed out.

Just minutes after the dust settled on the huge win Saturday, Kiffin fired up his Twitter account and let the world in on his motivation going into the game. And it was presumably the same pre-game meal his team was feasting on.
Kiffin tweeted an “in-season opponent report” that had just one segment on it. It was a quote from LSU coach Brian Kelly on his weekly radio show.
“We’re looking forward to it,” Kelly had said. “We’re going to keep that Magnolia Trophy right here in Baton Rouge where it deserves to be and our guys are excited for the opportunity.”
Sure enough, Kiffin tweeted out a picture of that quote. If Ole Miss keeps winning at this rate, Kiffin’s social media will be the go-to source for all kinds of trolls for everyone opponent in their path!
