Former USC tight end Michael Trigg is one of the most coveted prospects in the transfer portal. He’s currently the second rated tight end prospect in the portal, according to the On3 2022 Transfer Portal Rankings. The Ole Miss Rebels and the Oklahoma Sooners have been named as the top two contenders to land Trigg’s services, per On3’s Gerry Hamilton. On Thursday night, Ole Miss Rebel fans got a piece of fantastic news as 247sports’ Chris Hummer put in a Crystal Ball Prediction for Trigg to Ole Miss.

Hummer also noted that he put in a Crystal Ball prediction for Trigg’s former USC teammate, Jaxson Dart, to Ole Miss on Thursday morning. Dart is currently ranked as the No. 2 quarterback prospect in On3’s 2022 Transfer Portal Rankings.

It’s been widely reported that Dart and Trigg would be a package deal to whatever school they choose, so both players choosing Ole Miss would not be a shocker.

Trigg, the No. 4 tight end in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus, had seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown last year for the Trojans. The news on Trigg and Dart taking their transfer portal visits to different schools has set the internet and social media ablaze for the past few weeks.

Dart, Trigg were both highly touted recruits

Joining USC this season as true freshmen, Dart and Trigg both came in with high expectations. Dart was a four-star quarterback according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Trigg was a four-star tight end.

Dart started three games this season for USC. He played in six games as a whole, throwing for 1,353 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Against Washington State in September, Dart threw for 391 yards and four touchdowns. Trigg, on the other hand, didn’t have a huge role in his first collegiate season. He caught seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown as a freshman.

The fit for Ole Miss would be clear, especially for Dart. Ole Miss is looking to replace Matt Corral at quarterback. Corral is entering the 2022 NFL Draft and is likely to be a first-round draft pick as one of the top quarterbacks available.

If Lane Kiffin and the Rebels can land Dart and Trigg, it would add to an already impressive offense that also landed former On3 Consensus five-star running back Zach Evans.

Dart also posted pictures of him posing at Oklahoma, after he and Trigg visited Norman a few weeks ago. The fit would be interesting at Oklahoma at quarterback. Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler have both departed, while the Sooners reunited offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby with his former UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

One thing is for sure: the former roommates at USC are publicly enjoying their time in the transfer portal. With options narrowing and time running out, a destination will likely be selected soon.
