WATCH: T.J. McCants blasts a solo shot to give Rebels 5-0 lead before they punched their tickets to Omaha

Ole Miss piled on the runs late in the Hattiebsurg Super Regional in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Sophomore T.J. McCants blasted a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th inning to stretch the Rebels lead to 5-0 over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Sunday evening.
Check out the solo shot below.
That would be the final run of the game before the Rebels officially punched their tickets to the 2022 College World Series. The solo shot was the first at bat of the Super Regional Series for McCants, and he clearly made it count.
Ole Miss swept the Hattiesburg Super Regional by a score of 2-0. The Rebels pitched back-to-back shutouts. Leading up to the Super Regional, Ole Miss had not pitched a shutout in 66 games.
The College World Series appearance is the sixth in program history for Ole Miss, even though it has never won the tournament. In their last appearance in 2014, the Rebels went 2-2 and were one of the final four teams remaining before losing to Virginia.

After a scoreless first four innings, Ole Miss got the bats going in the fifth on Sunday. Jacob Gonzalez hit a single to bring in Calvin Harris for the first run before a passed ball brought in the second. Finally, Kevin Graham hit an RBI single to right field to allow Gonzalez to score for the final run of the inning.
The Rebels added some extra padding to their lead in the sixth inning when leadoff hitter Justin Bench singled to left center to bring in Hayden Dunhurst for the fourth run of the afternoon.
This year in the CWS, Ole Miss will first draw a matchup with the winner of the Auburn–Oregon State Super Regional. Auburn claimed the first game of that series and will have a chance to close things out at 9 p.m. Sunday.
