On Saturday, new Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning got a taste of what it’s like to play close through the Northern West Coast. The Ducks enjoyed Saturday’s spring practice amidst a heavy rainstorm. After practice, Lanning addressed the pros of his team having to compete against each other and Mother Nature.

“What do you mean no one likes being out in the Rain, man? Of course you like being out in it,” said Lanning after the reporter suggested the Ducks did not like the weather. “I mean yeah it was a good opportunity for us to get the work, you know. We haven’t got a ton of it this spring so it’s good for us to see. Certainly makes it harder, you know. As a defensively you wannt to play rain games it’s harder to move the ball on offense. So it’s good for us to see. We had to get that practice, but yeah it was good for us.”

Lanning would know a thing or two about the expectations on the defense side of the ball after last season. As the Georgia Bulldogs‘ defensive coordinator, Lanning led one of the best units in the country and arguably of all time. Now that he’s with Oregon, he has a chance to establish his own defensive legacy in the Pac-12.

Lanning discusses Oregon Ducks spring game, Justin Flowe’s status

Oregon coach Dan Lanning met with reporters following his team’s 12th spring practice on Wednesday.

There was plenty to discuss, including the health status of a few key players.

Star linebacker Justin Flowe returned to practice this week for the first time since suffering a season-ending injury last September. The former 5-star signee was seen going through position drills and participating in an 11-on-11 portion on Tuesday.

Lanning talked about where Flowe is at physically at the moment, and he also discussed the status of Noah Sewell, Christian Gonzalez, and Bryan Addison.

Lanning also talked in detail about what fans can expect to see during Oregon’s spring.
