Mitchell made six appearances as a true freshman in 2024, recording five total tackles. Because two of those games were in the College Football Playoff, he was still able to preserve a redshirt, meaning he will have all four years of eligibility remaining.
Mitchell recorded all his statistics during the regular season. He had two tackles in a game twice, doing so against Kent State and Maryland.
Mitchell played high school football at Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 105 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
