Tennessee has landed a commitment out of the transfer portal. Kennesaw State pitcher Bo Rhudy will be headed to join Tony Vitello‘s outfit.

Rhudy, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound right-hander, put together a very strong season for the Owls in 2025. It was his second season with the program.

The talented hurler posted a 2.78 ERA while working through 35.2 innings. He had a 4-1 record and earned two saves, striking out 32 and walking 14 in the process.

In two seasons at Kennesaw State, Bo Rhudy has logged 76 career strikeouts. Opponents have hit just .202 off him, so he’s tough to get a bead on off the mound.

He’ll instantly help improve the pitching staff of the current defending national champions. Of course, reloading the roster is nothing new for Vitello. A year after winning it all he once again has the Volunteers in the NCAA Super Regionals, looking for a repeat trip to Omaha.

Bo Rhudy was a three-time all-state selection in high school from 2021-13. He was named Walker County Pitcher of the Year during his senior campaign, hailing from Chickamauga, Ga.

Tennessee hosting a top transfer target

While the Volunteers landed a pledge from Bo Rhudy on Thursday, they’ve also been actively recruiting some other top talent from the transfer portal. Could they land another big fish?

Sources confirmed to On3 on Wednesday afternoon that Virginia transfer infielder Henry Ford was visiting Tennessee. The Volunteers are scheduled to play at Arkansas in an NCAA Super Regional this weekend, but Tony Vitello’s program is starting to address their need in the college baseball transfer portal.

Ford is viewed as one of the top available transfers in the portal. His decision to enter this week came on the heels of Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor accepting the Mississippi State job. Tennessee is 46-17 entering this weekend and are reigning national champions.

The Bulldogs are viewed as a top contender to land Ford. Texas is another school in the mix for the third baseman, sources have said. In 111 career games over two seasons with Virginia, Ford hit .348 with a .414 OBP and a .587 slugging percentage. That’s a 1.001 OPS. He did that on the back of 28 career home runs, 115 RBIs, and 22 doubles. Defensively, he’s committed just four career errors on a 0.994 fielding percentage.

On3’s Pete Nakos also contributed to this report.
