Growth is expected in College Station throughout the 2025 season. Not just from head coach Mike Elko, but also from his coordinators. Collin Klein has plenty of experience as an OC throughout his career and got a taste of the SEC last year.

Cole Cubelic believes a big part of Texas A&M‘s potential success is Klein maturing a little more with his playcalling. The SEC Network analyst believes Klein strayed away from the run game at times after finding a good amount of success. Instead, he turned to a first-year starting quarterback in Marcel Reed.

“I think Colin Klein has got to grow a little bit,” Cubelic said Thursday on The Paul Finebaum Show. “There were times last year where A&M’s running the football and then, all of sudden, they’re turning into an air-raid, spread-it-out, throw-it-around offense. And hearing Mike Elko discuss some of the things he wants to get back to defensively, I think is going to make that group a little more sound, a little less high-risk.”

There is plenty of excitement surrounding Reed. Elko even confirmed the quarterback is expected to be healthy going into fall camp. A massive boost for Texas A&M, having their guy ready to lead them from Day 1.

But the Aggies also hold one of the best running back rooms in college football. Le’Veon Moss is currently dealing with legal issues but if able to play, he projects as a reliable bellcow, if not more. Amari Daniels returns for another campaign after last year’s 661 yards and eight touchdowns — both career highs.

Rueben Owens might be getting slept on just a tad, too. Owen suffered a season-ending injury ahead of 2024 and watched the entire season from the sidelines. Now, the former No. 3 running back in the 2023 recruiting class is ready to fully break out.

Klein is going to have a few new shiny toys to play with in the pass game. Texas A&M went into the NCAA transfer portal for multiple guys. KC Concepcion is the highlight of the bunch while Mario Carver has some SEC experience. Getting those guys involved will be a must if the Aggies want to reach a new level.

At the same time, Cubelic is hoping Klein can stay true to what he believes is the program’s identity. A challenge for the offensive coordinator from SEC Media Days, just over a month away from the season beginning.
