J.D. PicKell Previews and Predicts Texas A&M vs. Arkansas

Last week, Texas A&M lost Conner Weigman to injury, and Jimbo Fisher confirmed he’s “most likely” out for the season as a result. It’s a big loss for the Aggies considering Weigman’s performance as the starting quarterback early on this year.

Friday night, he took to Instagram with a message to Aggie Nation.

“It has been a wild week, but wanted to say I really appreciated everyone who has reached out with their support and prayers, especially all of my Aggie family!” Weigman wrote, along with a heart emoji. “It’s a tough pill to swallow knowing I won’t be able to be in the foxhole with the boys for the rest of the season, I love everyone one of them like a brother and I already know the show will go on! In the [meantime] we are going to eat rehab for breakfast, while being the biggest Aggie cheerleader there is. Excited to watch my guys put on a show.”

Weigman went down with a foot injury against Auburn last week and didn’t return. Jimbo Fisher didn’t sound optimistic about his prognosis after the game and, on this week’s SEC coaches teleconference, confirmed Weigman’s season is probably over.

“Yeah he is and like I said in the press conference the other day we thought everything was fine,” Fisher said. “Was having some pain, we X-rayed and MRI’d it, it didn’t show anything. We thought it was just a normal sprain. He had some pain, he got a CAT scan and it showed some things in there that we’re going to have to fix and go in and get that done, so most likely he’ll be out.”

More on Conner Weigman’s injury, what’s next for Texas A&M

Facing a second-and-14 from the 5-yard line, Weigman dropped back to pass and got immediate pressure off the edge. Auburn cornerback Jaylin Simpson got free and dove at Weigman, hitting him up around the thigh before sliding down his leg as he brought him down.

Weigman came up limping but stayed in to finish off the drive, which ended on an incompletion one play later. He quickly headed to the medical tent and then the locker room.

Prior to his exit, Weigman was 8-of-14 passing for 70 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in the game. He’d also run once for a loss of six yards.

Texas A&M will now turn to Max Johnson as the starting quarterback, and he had a good showing against Auburn. He went 7-for-11 for 123 yards and two touchdowns to help the Aggies get the 27-10 victory.
